Make My Macbook visible on my home network

How Do I mkae my macbook visible on my home network. I can see my home computer and my dads laptop show up, but mine does not. How do i fix this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

In Snow Leopard it goes like this: (Lion should be similar)

Go to System Preferences > Sharing

  1. Unlock Pane by clicking lock + password.
  2. Check off File Sharing.
  3. Select or add folders you want to share and set permissions.
  4. Lock Pane when done.

Other users will only be able to access folders where you have given them permission. In the example above, the users Public folder will have read only access to other users (Everyone)
