I wonder..... is your iMac one of the new ones, with an intel processor?
If so - I think I know the problem.
The intel-macs come pre-loaded with intel-native plugins for macromedia flash content - but it is possible for these to be over-written with the wrong plugins - after which Flash content will not play in Safari.
Try the latest 'preview' release of the flash player at Macromedia
Or here for more detailed info on how to restore your original flash player.
If you don't have an intel-mac - ignore all this ! & I'll try again
