Q: Apple Icon on Menu is MIA

The apple icon on the menu bar has suddenly disappeared.  Does anyone know how to make it return?

Now that it's gone, the drop-down menus no longer correspond to what I've clicked on the menu.  For example, when I click on the "Finder" in the top menu bar, the drop-down list for the "apple icon" appears.  When I click on "File," the drop-down menu for "Finder" appears; when I click "Edit," the drop-down menue for "File" appears, etc.

This probem started without me having done anything, such as downloading a new apple operating system version, etc.

Does anyone know how I can fix the menu functionality?
