I have today updated my Aperture version to 3.2.4 and although it is showing in my downloads, it doesn't show in the Aperture library itself when I open it!!

I do not know, what you mean by this? Show in the Aperture Library?
You see the Aperture Upgrade in the "Downloads" folder. Did you run the installer?
After you run the installer, was is the evrsion number you see, when you select the Aperture application in the Applications folder? Does it say 3.2.4.? Then it is properly installed.

In your Downloads folder should be a disk image: Aperture3.2.4Update.dmg
Did you double click this disk image, to mount it and then, in the folder that will open, run the installer by double clicking the package inside? Do you get any message, when you try that?
Yes I did Leonie and the following message appears when I do so:
The Following Disk images could not be opened
Aperture 3.2.4 is not recognized
Are you logged in using an administrator account? You need administrator privileges to mount the disk image and to install. The error message is typical for working from a regular user account.
Also the download could be corrupted. Then deleting the file and downloading again should help.

I deleted the file and reinstalled. It works now!!!!
