Q: What happens if your main computer, where the base iTunes music is stored, is stolen or damaged; or you simply want to upgrade to a new computer. Can itunes Match be used as security to store your music and transfer to the new computer?

I'm considering purchasing iTunes match, as I want to upload all my music to the cloud. My main motive is security. I recently had a laptop stolen. Luckily, this didn't have my music on it, but in the event that it had, would iTunes Match secure my music and allow me to download again onto any new laptop? Same applies if my original laptop is damaged or if we simply wanted to upgrade to a new computer. When I look at the marketing material and the FAQ, the focus is mainly on sharing music across your hardware, as opposed to security....
