Why doesnt my iPhone say verizon at the top?

Okay so i did have an iphone 4 and i just upgraded to the 4s. Well when i got the 4s at the top where is would say verizon it doesnt, and ive had for about a week now. ive called *228 or what ever it is like 100 times and ive took it to verizon and they gave me a new phone to see if it was the phone. Is that how the new 4s are. my sister and mom both have a 4s and theirs says verizon. maybe its something new apple just did or something.

This has come up at least once before in the forums. The other person with the problem was not having any trouble with phone functions, was able to send and receive calls, text and data as expected. Are you? If you are, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

One thing you might try is removing the SIM card that is in the phone, then doing *228, option 1 and letting it finish. This will prevent the phone from seeing any GSM networks. When you're done, you can put the SIM card back so that you don't lose it.
