Magic Mouse, battery-length?

Dear Reader,

I just purchased a (Intel) Imac, I also recieved my very own magic mouse and keyboard, out of the box battery length for the magic mouse only lasted aprox. two weeks ... was the battery insufficient? will magic mouse require me to pay 5 dollars every two weeks for batteries for this device. With this said i replaced the two double A batteries and now, three days later the battery percentage is still at 100%. did i recieve bad batteries from apple or does magic mouse require new batteries every two to four weeks? Whats your thoughts on the magic mouse?

It sounds like something prevented the Mouse from entering low power mode. My Magic mouse batteries usually last around 6 weeks. Also I keep several charging and ready for use. You might consider some rechargeables like the ones apple sells or others.

Depending on usage, for the Mouse I get approx 3 weeks on a set of NIMH rechargeables.

Bought a Magic Mouse from the Apple Store four weeks ago. Today I got a message that my batteries were "critically low." So I replaced them with Duracell Alkalines and now my battery level is only showing 66%. By comparison, the wireless Logitech I had previously used to last six months or more on a pair of batteries.

A day after I swapped the batteries I began to get a Low Battery Warning again! It said the battery was at 11% so tried another set. No go! Then I tried reinserting the low battery set and the Battery Level is up to 18%. Wondering if there's a problem with the battery contacts or the battery level indicator. Not happy.

In y Apple Magic (bluetooth) Mouse (2 batteries) Eneloop Generation One (2006, 07 and 08) batteries were lasting about 3 weeks before I would receive the on screen warning of low batteries (at 9% charge left).

In my Apple bluetooth keyboard (3 battery version) Eneloop Generation One (2006, 07 and 08) batteries were lasting about 6 weeks before I would receive the on screen warning of low batteries (at 9% charge left).

I have replaced the mouse batteries with new Eneloop Pro (2016/black). These are lasting about 6 weeks – twice as long as the Gen Ones. How much of this extra longevity is due to the Pros being newer and how much is due to their extra capacity, I don’t know. The older batteries might have been recharged 100 times – only 10% of their 1,000 recharge cycle rating.

Similarly, I replaced the keyboard batteries with new Eneloop Pro (2016/black). These last about 3 months – again about twice as long as the Gen Ones.

If the Pros really can be recharged 500 times, they will last about 57 years for use in the mouse and 125 years for use in the keyboard. I suspect that neither the mouse, the keyboard, nor I will be around by the time they wear out.
