I have an apple tv that isn't responding to its remote. I restored the apple tv it is still not working. I think the remote is dead. I was wondering if there is anyway to get the remote app to recognize the apple tv considering it has been recently restored. I don't know what to do help please!

Does the Apple TV flash when you use the remote.
You would need the original remote to set the Apple TV up to use the network after a restore, before you can use the remote app.
Have you:
1. Change the battery
2. Pair the Remote with Apple TV
no the apple tv remote does not flash when i use the remote. i just changed the batteries still doesn't work.

I am watching this thread for a solution. I have also changed the battery and tried pairing but see no response. The tv screen shows all my options, but the remote won't move the cursor.
I've installed the new battery both ways (+down and up) with the same result each time. Which is correct?

Took my Atv and remote to Genius Bar. They connected Atv to a tv, determined that the remote was bad. They presented me with a new remote and seemed to be ready to ask me to pay for it. I told them I expected Apple to replace the six month old remote and they did so. The new remote works fine, did not need pairing.
