Boot camp partition?

I'm having trouble with my bootcamp partition. I'm using a MacBookPro 15" and just upgraded to OSX Lion last night from Snow Leopard to install windows 7 this morning. The problem I'm having is when I'm asked where I want to install windows. I'm getting:

Disk 0 Partition 1

Disc 0 Partition 2

Disc 0 Partition 3

Disc 0 Partition 4: BOOTCAMP

When I click on Partition 4 (in red) I get:

Windows cannot be installed to disc 0 partition 4. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.

Thats where I'm stuck. Thanks for any help in advanced.

You need to first format that partition NTFS before you can install it. This is done within the Windows installer's formatting window.

If everyone who posted that same question (yes, daily!) would read or seach or just look at the screen and the options right there... it would avoid all this.

The original beta of Boot Camp Assistant did format as NTFS for users when the partiton was 32GB or larger (40GB or larger recommend for Windows 7) but due to Microsoft holding rights to NTFS I guess and Apple wouldn't even provide the feature.

I have the same problema, I am trying to install windows 8 and until now with no sucess. The instalation by the bootcamp runs smoothly, but when I boot from the USB, start the instalation process on windows and it asks me what partition I want to install the windows, I try to choose the Partition 4: BOOTCAMP and it doesn't work, even after I try to format as you said...And if I don't press the Alt button, when the bootcamp finishes the instalation and reboot the mac, it goes to a black screen where said that I don't have any boot devices connected

Why do you have 4 partitions? What are they? Bootcamp can only be used on a drive with an existing single partition plus recovery parftition. What partition options are you given?

You should really start your own thread. You are asking in a year old solved thread. Many will not even read your question because the thread is already solved.

No, I only have the USB with the ISO plugged.

It seems to be the only solution, I will make a boot dvd with the .iso and I wil try. In ohter thread someone alert to the same thing, so it could be. After all I have to change the info.plist of the assistant boot camp so I can install the Windows from the USB, because initial it didn't have that option...
