I use my pioneer VSX-1021k to watch TV at home. (It's a Stereo)
The problem is when I connect the Apple Tv to a HDMI connection I get a scrambled screen. Is there a way to get this to work?
Do these 2 products work together?
I know that the VSX-1021k stereo already has airplay however I think I should be able to connect and see the menu on the appleTV at least.

It's a Panasonic HD Tv 1080i T CinemaVision
It only has 1 Hdmi connection and I plug that into the Stereo.

Plug the HDMI into the Apple TV and connect to your HDTV. Use the optical port on the ATV to connect your receiver. The Apple TV only support 1080P so it could be part of the issue but try that and see.

I would ideally keep my stereo plugged into the HDTVs 1 Hdmi port and have the atv plugged into the stereo (pioneer vsx-1021k)
Could there be a setting in the atv that I could change to make it work with the stereo?
The reason being I don't want to have to plug and unplug that. Objection all the time.

The problem lies inn the HDMI interface. Check your HDMI settings for the Pioneer and make sure the output to the HDTVis set to 1080i not 1080P. Also make sure your HDMI input for the ATv is labeled and activated within the VSX set-up menu.
The difference is in the scan line reproduction: I=interlaced; P= progressive scan. The ATv is equip'd to handle "up to" 1080P. I use the Atv thu a Integra Rcvr with an old 1080i Mitsubishi with no problem.
Most "average" movie watchers could not tell i from P unless viewing side-by-side and you will still get all the kick-*** sound benefits of HD thru you rcvr. Good Luck

Hi,
I tried setting the receiver to 1080i and checked the setting on the apple tv. I still got no picture... Is there something else I need to do? Or else I will need to return this product, most likely tonight, which I don't want to do.

A solution was given that you confirmed worked. You would just need to find an optical cable for the receiver or an HDMI splitter. The ATV needs to be connected to a TV with HDMI, there is no guarantee with other setups.
