Q: 4th generation shuffle, no volume control or next song control. Any suggestions

I have 4 th shuffle with no volume control and no next on song advancement.  Appears to be locked and unable to u lock. ????

    You can lock (put on "hold") the controls on a shuffle, by pressing and holding the center (play/pause) button.  You do the same to unlock the controls.  But if you have turned it OFF and turned it ON, it should be unlocked..

     

    Make sure you have done this to Reset the shuffle

    If that does not help, I would do a Restore in iTunes (on the shuffle's Summary tab).  This will erase the shuffle and set it to default settings.

     

    If that does not help either, it is most likely a hardware problem on the shuffle.  If it is less than one-year old (under warranty) you should contact Apple (or make a reservation at an Apple Store Genius Bar) to have it checked.
