Jul 9, 2012 2:45 PM in response to kelletaby babowa,You'll need to read the "small print" on the MPEG Streamclip site:
And, as mentioned, read the next pop-down about SL as well. You may also find that it's handy to have the older version of Quicktime installed (it'll be installed in your Utlilities folder - check there first to make sure you don't already have it):

Personally, I had the Component on a previous Mac, so I literally copied (drag 'n drop) it to the same location on the new Mac, but that cannot be done with an installer.

Jul 9, 2012 3:01 PM in response to babowaby kelleta,Thank you so much but I still am a litle confused, actually a lot confused sorry but do you mind giving me step by step instructions?

Jul 9, 2012 3:16 PM in response to kelletaby babowa,As I mentioned, I simply copied mine over - I did not follow the instructions as outlined, and I won't give you instructions on how I did it because yours is not the same situation.
So, without having followed the steps at the MPEG website, I would do the following:
First, download and install the older Quicktime version 7 (after making sure you don't have it already). Then, read the instructions on the MPEG website; download the beta version. Double click on the downloaded package and you should get a window like this:
Double click on the Utility MPEG2... and, as long as you have the downloaded Playback Component on your computer (desktop?), it should install it once you double click the utility.
This is assuming that you have the actual app MPEG Streamclip already installed in your Applications folder and downloaded the Playback Component you purchased.

Jul 9, 2012 4:02 PM in response to babowaby kelleta, where can i find the quicktime verison 7 download and the website for the mpeg download?

Jul 9, 2012 5:10 PM in response to kelletaby babowa,I linked to the Quicktime 7 download above and, you said, you purchased the Component? That is at the Apple store, so you'll need to go back there and download it from there - not sure how they are working this now, but when I bought it, I downloaded it right afterwards.

Jul 10, 2012 4:38 PM in response to kelletaby babowa,I don't know why you would wind up with that; but, since you are having problems trying to download/install the Playback Component, I think the best thing to do is for you to make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar (free advice) and take your Mac with you. That way, he can see what you're doing and check on why you can't install the Component (hard to say without looking at it why it won't even download). As for the older version, as explained on the MPEG Streamclip site, that will not work unless you follow their instructions so you appear to be caught in a Catch-22, so I think the Genius Bar is the best idea.
