Tried Needleski method and didn't work. I had tried two ethernet restores as well. First worked and second didn't after it failed again a few days later.

I returned the ATV3 back to the store and they swapped it out with another straight away. All fine now. Seems like this is a common problem.

It was good to see I was not the only one having this issue. Thanks for all the help or I'd be tearing my hair out still.

Ok Same thing Apple TV- after a short while would not find network wifi although 10 feet away.

Called apple support for my free one time help call.

We went through all the steps mentioned above - nothing worked .

He said it was internal and I needed to take it back for a new one.

In San Francisco- I did that had a new one and it now works fine we will see how long it lasts. I did however enter the password from my ATT router but that was wrong one and I entered the wireless network key and it worked fine .

They could not have been nicer.

Apple Store update: Took both of my Gen 3 Apple TV's in, and told them they wouldn't recognize any wifi network... None!

Without any comments or questions, they replaced both of them. Oh, I forgot to mention... Two other people were there with Apple TV's and similar issues in front of me in line for the Genius bar. I saw both of them get replacement units as well, without much conversation.

Sounds like there is a larger issue that Apple hasn't fixed yet... Is it possible the latest update is causing a hardware failure with the wifi chip?

Today I took my Apple TV 2 (out of warranty period) back to Apple Store for Genius Bar appointment. Same issue as everyone here -- Apple TV has suddenly stopped recognizing any WiFi signal in the house. I know my Apple TV is out of warranty, but I really expected them to replace mine. No dice - they asked me to pay $59 to to fix a $99 device, even though this thread would indicate a more widespread problme. They told me they haven't seen any other Apple TVs problems in that store. Despite my previous purchases of iMac, MacBook Pro, Macbook Air, 3 iPhones, 4 iTouches, an iPad, a 1TB Time Capsule, a Mobile Me subscription, and at least 8 G-RAID external hard drives, they refulsed to replace my Apple TV which has sat motionlesss for 18 months.

I said they could make it right if they wanted. The Manager told me that he couldn't and that "a lot has changed at the Apple Store in the last 12 months."

Very disappointed in Apple Customer Service. Have been mad all day and will be complaining about Apple to anyone that will listen. I know it seems like a small price to pay, but that's really my point. Apple was willing to draw a line in the sand at $59 for my value as a customer. Despite the failure being 100% their issue.

I don't expect replacement for hardware I wear hard - iPones and Macbooks that travel and move. But the Apple TV repleacement was a no brainer. I'm now a very disgruntled Mac owner.

I feel u Rfahle.. Went through the same process at the Genius Bar and got the same resuslts.. Apple Customer Services REALLY ***** NOW...!!!! My ATV 2 went out of warranty 9 days past a year and they could give a ****..!!!! Pay me $59 to replace or $99 to get a new one.. Tech who trouble shot the ATV said it was a firmware issue which I already knew..(during restore I would get an error message every time), pay me (APPLE) to replace, like he knows there's a problem with all of these ATV dropping connection..!!! To all who are still under a 1 year warranty I suggest you go and get it replaced ASAP...!!!!

I have the exact same issue. I bought this ****** ATV3, worked out of the box. Two days later, no WiFi. Returned it, got a new one from the store. New one worked like a charm... for 4 days. No WiFi again. Connected it via ethernet, everything was fine. I'm tired of the freaking cable, disconnected it today. No WiFi. Only one bar appear, but when trying to find WiFi networks, none appear. I'll have to wait to get a UPS box to put it in and send it back to apple.

Hmmm... Way to many people having the same exact issues for Apple to remain silent... My replacement unit started doing the same thing again last night! Don't have time to go stand in an Apple store again for over an hour waiting for them to replace the Apple TV. I wish Apple would either acknowledge the issue and let customers know if it is hardware, or software and we should just wait for a fix before returning to the Apple stores with the defective units.

"put my apple tv on top of the wifi router"...... Why would you want to do that??? It's designed and advertised to be used wirelessly. I got my apple tv about a month ago. Guess what! It stopped receiving signal from my wireless router a few days ago. It's like the antenna was yanked off the device by Steve Jobs' ghost. I did restore it to factory setting...many times, but it did not prove to be useful. I went to an apple store today trying to get it fixed. I was told by the guy wearing a blue t-shirt to plug my apple tv to my computer and restore it using itune. I did that, but it's still not working. I guess I have to go back on Monday and have a chat with those Smurfs who think themselves as Geniuses...
