Q: My Apple Tv is not connecting to WiFi.

I cannot get my Apple TV to connect to WiFi.  I have tried rebooting, reconfiguring etc and nothing works.  My computer and Ipad are connecting, just not Apple TV

I bought my ATV in May.

A couple of weeks back I diaries a call from apple support after the same Wifi failure described here.

I explained to them I had tried the reboot, the full restore etc to no avail.

The immediately agreed to a replacement.

Ups picked up my box the following day the next day apple received and authorised the replacement which arrived with me the following day.

All is good with the new box so far - fingers crossed.

It is frustrating when hardware fails, but I terms of my experience on this problem  I was very happy with Apple Supports response and swift action..

i have the exact same problem. worked fine for a few days now can't get any networks shown in the Wi-Fi network connection.  Works fine with Ethernet connection but that really defeats the object of the whole thing.

i'll be taking a trip to apple at the weekend

I got so disgusted with the wifi not working. Went to the Apple store Genius. Both the ATV 2&3 worked perfectly at the stores wifi....nothing to troubleshoot. This told me the trouble was in the router wifi.

Got home and reset the Linksys E3200 router to factory settings and wala, both ATV's are now working perfectly!

I hope this might work for all of you also. I am no engineer, but I believe Apples update recently, changed something in my router. My other Apple devices were not affected, just the ATV's.

I'm in Bogota Colombia (no apple store here) anyway I went to an authorized shop/dealer and they sent my ATV3 to the US. Yesterday I recieved a brand new one and so far wifi is working ok.

Having the same problem!  My Apple TV was working flawlessly until today.  Not, it will play for a minute and then lose the network connection.  Several resets, hard reset, network reset, NOTHING.  Is this the quality of Apple products now?

Same Problem!  My Apple TV will not find my wireless network which is 5 feet away!  My two other imacs are working perfect!  It's just the Apple TV

Did you reset your router to factory settings?? Just resetting by unplugging and replugging won't do it.

Yes - I tried resetting the wireless router.  Here is what I have done/test/noticed:

    1)  My MacBook Pro, iPhone, and Airport express have no problem staying connected, streaming airplay, etc.  Throughout all of the changes and troubleshooting I have done, those devices were consistently able to reacquire the network just fine and operate normally.

    2)  I tried resetting (to factory settings) both of my wireless N routers (linksys), changing the SSID, and changing the security settings.  All devices were able to connect perfectly except for the Apple TV.

    3)  I factory reset the Apple TV (along with several attempts to restart and let it sit for a few minutes).  About 20% of the time, it connects to the wireless network for about 30-90 seconds and then loses the connection.  80% of the time, it cannot connect at all.

    4)  SPECIFICALLY:  When I go to General - Network and try to connect to the available networks, it cannot see ANY available networks.  If I select "other" to input specific network settings, it is still unable to connect.

Note:  The 20% of the time when it actually works, the Apple TV connects perfectly to my router (sitting about 10 feet away) and can see about 8-10 other wireless networks within range.

    5)  My Apple TV is the latest version (w/1080p) and has the latest OS installed (no updates available).  It is only a few months old (purchased new from Best Buy).

    6)  From the day I purchased the Apple TV, I plugged it in, set it up, and have been using it daily without any problems until yesterday.  I stream iTunes, Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Airplay (via iOS and MacBook Pro) over my wireless N network and have not changed anything.  It suddenly stopped working yesterday.

    Thoughts / Suggestions?

    Thank you!

Well, it sure sounds like you have covered all the bases!

If it's only 2 months old then I would return it and get a new one. That should not be a problem at all.

Plus there is a 90 day time after purchase that Apple care is free for help. But, I would still return it, then if you have the same problems with the new one I would certainly use AppleCare's free help.

thulidesign's post earlier today mirrors my experience. Is Apple ignoring this issue because it is going to move on from this "hobby", as Steve Jobs called the AppleTV, because an Apple Smart TV is imminent?

My Apple TV wouldn't connect to WIFI out of the box. After 3 days it did find my network one time and then never again. I'm not a real whiz at computers, but everthing else on my network has worked since day one. After a few calls to Apple I sent the box back, which turned out to be pretty easy (bought it online). The new one has worked perfect with no troubles. If fact it found some of my neighbors networks.

Ok, so two days ago I did the latest update that it asked me to do (automatic updates are off).  I then left the house to go away.  Got back this morning and went to watch a movie and it no longer works on my wireless.  So the issue is clearly with the update, my Macbook, Ipad's, Ipod Touch & Iphones all work on the wireless.  It is only the ATV that does not.  Apple please advise fix asap.

Same issue here. Been on holiday for a week. Came back, plugged in and no wifi. I cant even do a restore as it says something about not having internet connection to download updates!??! Well, DUH! That's why I'm doing a restore! I am getting so fed up with Apple covering up/ignoring issues. My iPad2 with light bleed issues was ignored, covered up and swept under the carpet for weeks... Replacing for a Google TV unless this is fixed pronto...
