Q: My Apple Tv is not connecting to WiFi.

I cannot get my Apple TV to connect to WiFi.  I have tried rebooting, reconfiguring etc and nothing works.  My computer and Ipad are connecting, just not Apple TV

Phoned AppleCare -  they had no mention of this problem being reported to them before but will log it with engineers now. In the meantime, I was advised to restore via USB and Mac itunes. Done it twice - not worked.Still not able to pick up ANY wifi networks (iphone, ipad and macbook all detect between 10-20 in the vicinity, including my own).

Offered to collect and replace, but as bought from PCWorld, I'll take there today as SHOULD be covered by manufacturers warranty?! We'll see. So much for "It just works" ha!

Same problem. Apple TV wont connect to wifi after the last update although my iphone and ipad show that the wifi network is working perfectly well. It was working really well for the 1st month since i bought it but it seems the update has caused the problem. I called Apple support in India and I was told they wont do anything about it since Apple TV is not sold in India officially. So i guess its all right for them to make money by selling it to Indian customers and even allow its use in India with an international credit card, but its a problem if you ask them for service. Their attitude really *****! What are you going to do with that pile of cash apple if you cant keep your customers happy?

Its Strange that Apple Care say this hasnt been reported I have had one exchanged from them already!!

    SOLUTION TO PROBLEM!!!!

Take it back and get another one!! I have tried all tips and tricks and the ONLY way I got ATV 3 working was to get an exchange which the apple store did without question!!  I hadnt even bought it from there!! and TO CLARIFY the guy in the Genius Dept stated "Not another one we are exchanging at least 3 a day in here!"

For anyone who says try a reset etc. tried that, dropped firewall, dropped security on wifi nothing works except to exchange and let apple see extent of this MAJOR ISSUE!!

Nothing suggested in other forums worked. Took it back to PCWorld/Currys and got an exchange. Works a treat now... Another issue like this and it'll make me go back to Windows... (now there's something I thought i'd never say!)

Same issue here -- brand new ATV3 just out of the box.  Can't see any WiFi networks, but works fine on wired Ethernet.  So far, my other three ATV3s continue to work fine, as do all of my other devices.  No question this a defect in the new ATV3.  Guess I'll just return it.

I have encountered exactly the same problem as Needleski described. Only installed my first AppleTV a few weeks ago and it initially worked fine BUT it downloaded a movie rental PAINFULLY slowly, as described by users in a separate discussion. My question is though: if Apple does (finally) come up with a fix, how will i download it given the ATV cannot connect to the wireless network?!

If you have an iMac or MacBook then you can download the patch by connecting the atv to the apple computer via the mini USB then using iTunes to restore firmware to the atv

Norsteve, Bataibarat: Your solution depends on Apple coming up with a fix; but APPLE'S SILENCE on this issue has been deafening.

One more person to this list, I am having the same problem, tried everything, reset modem, ATV, etc. ATV is only showing one bar of signal strenght and no networks in the Wifi, it only works when I connect it to the ethernet cable, it was working perfectly until yesterday and now there is no way to have it detect a wifi network, not even when placed one meter away from one, BTW my other mac devices (Ipad, Iphone, Imac) detect the wifi network without problems. This stinks, Apple is losing quality

I just purchased an ATV3, and it worked fine up until I did the update.

Since then it will find my wifi network, but will not connect to it.  I cannot take it to Apple since I live overseas (military), and bought it at a store on base (which will not exchange/return).  Apple also does not ship anything to military addresses.  Very frustrating!

I sent mine to Hongkong since Apple refused to provide me service for it in India. The Apple store in HK said it was out of stock and the replacement will take a week. I'm just hoping the out of stock situation is because they pulled the defective ones off the shelf to replace with fresh working stock.

Tried Needleski method and didn't work. I had tried two ethernet restores as well. First worked and second didn't after it failed again a few days later.

I returned the ATV3 back to the store and they swapped it out with another straight away. All fine now. Seems like this is a common problem.

It was good to see I was not the only one having this issue. Thanks for all the help or I'd be tearing my hair out still.
