Q: My Apple Tv is not connecting to WiFi.

I cannot get my Apple TV to connect to WiFi.  I have tried rebooting, reconfiguring etc and nothing works.  My computer and Ipad are connecting, just not Apple TV

Experiencing the same thing..you would think it would be a software update problem, since it has happened to so many people within such a short period of time - independent of generation..aka - DO SOMETHING APPLE...preposterous..

Also the same problem for me, directly after the update, absolutley no wireless connection and black screen / flashing light with ethernet cable.

No problems before the update, also tried restoring/updating via Itunes on PC with Micro USB but no progress. Pls sort this out apple, you are stopping me spending wasting all my money on Itunes movies.

Sent the diagnostic status etc via email but no reply yet, great.

My Apple TV isn't working either bummer.   The strange thing is that it still streamed photos from my computer even though it couldn't connect to any WiFi network.  Bizarre!

I fixed my problem! I connected the Apple TV through a cable to the router and made a complete restore (reset does not solved the problem). Fully working now.

Took my ATV into the Apple store yesterday and they replaced it no questions asked. Other forums on this subject say the same thing. They will just replace it with a new one. I couldnt get an explination of why or what happened. I dont know if they know what happened.  I havnt been able to hook it up yet so cant tell you if it works. The Apple rep said If I choose too...hint hint I didnt have to upgrade the unti to the newest release. Yea Ill be waiting until I hear there is a fix and a better version before I upgrade.

can u clarify please, u didnt have the lan problem clearly and maybe not even the original wifi problem

because if u had the same problem other users here have u would not be able to connect to lan in the first

place after latest firmware update, so correct me if im wrong but u fixed another problem not the one we are talking about.

only thing i can still do with my atv is connect it to my mac or pc and restore trough itunes wich i did 3 times without result, still no wifi and black screen once lan is connected, works again once i pull lan cable out..

but useless without any internet connection so BUMMER!

I had the LAN problem, black screen after restarting by connecting throug Ethernet. The way I solved it was by keep insisting! Surprisingly the way it worked was: disconnect from LAN (to get the screen), go to the preferences menu, connect to LAN and then select restore. Hope it helps

I have the Wi-fi problem and connecting it by ethernet and doing a restore to 5.1 only gave the same wi-fi problems, as in no steady connection.

    Still using 5.0.2

Same issue here.  Seriously, for the first time in 11 years I am on the verge of going back to Microsoft and a Windows machine for my next computer.  I am sick to the back teeth of paying for Apple products in the last few years that "just don't work".  The iPhoto upload issue which has only gone away with Mountain Lion, now my Apple TV refusing to find networks, Siri, Maps etc....

They are treating customers with contempt, utter contempt.

Under Jobs there seemed to be some quality control but now there is the arrogance of a company with a stack of cash in the bank and a willing market.  Well, that market will only last so long if Apple keep turning out sub-standard rubbish like this.

Android or Windows for my next portable device I think, unless Apple really pick up their game.

I was having a wifi issue with my ATV2 after updating to 5.1: the ATV saw my wifi networks but refused to connect. I noticed it said DHCP NULL in Settings, so I manually set an IP address and then tried connecting again to my wifi. This worked, as my ATV2 with 5.1 is now on the Internet and seeing my iTunes library.
