Not able to connect External HDD and Printer using USB Hub

Hi,

Am trying to setup a printer and external HDD using Time Capsule, but have been unsuccesful so far.

When I connect the USB port of either printer or extrenal HDD it detects it. Somehow its not detecting the USB hub port, when I connect printer and external HDD to it.

There is no issue with USB Hub as when I connect it to Mac it detects it. Can we share the printer and external HDD with Time Capsule at same time.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Is this a powered USB hub with its own separate power supply?

The USB port on your Mac is a high power port. The USB port on the Time Capsule is not.

Not all powered hubs work.. unfortunately I don't have a list.. but have seen like some belkin work.. some don't.. it will depend on the chip in them.. the TC having much less memory has a rather limited range of hubs that it can work with. Often a cheap no brand will work better than the big name at 3x the price.

My "no name" powered hub is Dynex. I think it came from Best Buy. Has worked for years.

@Bob - No. My USB Hub is not powered. I called Apple Care and they informed me that I need to go for Powered USB 2.0 Hub.

Am not expert, but can you let me know, if the USB Hub in the below link would meet my needs

On paper, it appears that this hub might work. But, I cannot say if it will or not.

It would be best to locate a local source for a powered hub that will let you return it if it does not work.

Today I bought the Dynex 4 Port Powered Hub and am now able to share the printer and external HDD across home Mac's.
