We have created several slidshows with music and now they keep pausing every 15-20 seconds for a split second up to several seconds.

Further, it seems whenever I try to do something in IPhoto, whether it is cut and paste a title or moving through pictures in an event  I get the "colorwheel" for a few seconds or many seconds.  I am using IPhoto 11 version 9.3.

    As a Test:

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    Terence...thanks for helping.

No, it does not repeat in the Temp Library.  I imported all the photos we use in two slideshows and recreated the same slidedshows with the same music.

The original still "stutters" in that it it will playfor various lengths of seconds and then "stutter" or "skip" for a split second, one second or, rarely, for a couple of seconds. Mostly is is just a slip second or full second.

And no colorwheel with its delay starting up almost every time I cut & paste or move to another function.

    Option 1

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.

    If that fails:

    Option 2

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
