I need the new version of flash on my macbook pro but it will not download. I tried to download google chrome instead and it will not download either. But this time there was a small error message in the middle of the screen that says Plug-in Failure. Help!!

I am trying to go onto mixbook to work on a photo album I'm creating. I get a message that says either my java has been turned off or I need to update to the newest version of flash. When I click the link to adobe and then click download the screen just goes black and it doesn't do anything?? No arrow shows up in the corner showing its downloading, just a black screen. so I read on here that google chrome has flash built in and to use it. I tried to downlad it and same thing, except this time a small box showed up in the middle of the screen saying "Plug-In Failure". This is the best I can describe it? Can you help me?? Thanks.
