A few times today, while I was using Safari, the AppStore application opened up on its own, taking me to a page for the game called' Slots Jouney HD'. I was curious if this has happened to anyone else. Is this a virus or something?

Having the same problem on the iPhone, however, the app store also opens when any app with ads/banners is open. Deleting all affected apps and clearing the browser cache (of both Safari and Chrome) did help in the short term, but after a few days it started again.
Did anyone find a more permanent solution in the meanwhile other than reinstalling iOS?

Well, I just got off work and when I unlocked my iPad and there was a little box opened asking for a password to an iTunes account (I think) that I've never seen before.. God ****, it just popped open again, asking for a yahoo account password to CalDAV, which is not mine account. I have no idea what's going on here.
Looks like this did the trick. I've been using my iPad for several hours no problem. Thanks a lot! Other people have been having this problem also, right down to the AppStore opening up to Slots Journey HD. I wonder what's going on?
Ahh! it started happening again -AppStore occasionally opening up on its own when I'm on Safari, taking me to the game "Slots Journey HD"- Really strange that it's happening to other iPad users, also. If I reset the iPad it seems to stop for awhile, but eventually it happens again. Seems like theres some kind of bug in the AppStore, maybe?
I can't really figure out what's the best way to report this to Apple, where they'll actually see it. Supposedly there is supposed to be a link on the game somewhere where you can report it for problems, but I cannot find it anywhere.
This is caused by advertising networks issuing a redirect which tells iOS to open the App Store. Clearing cookies and history is likely only to provide temporary respite.

I urge everyone to go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and submit their opinion as to why App Store URL launching behavior should be disabled.
I suspect something getting hung up in the cache, or a cookie that does crap it shouldn't. My solution was probably overkill, but I figured it would work.
Tried this with no luck. App Store is still randomly opening to Slots Journey HD from Safari and Chrome.
