iPad
Is this a shared iPad?
If not, it is just for you, then if you go into:
Settings
Scroll down to "Message",
selecting it shows the options on the right, there is the option for "Receive At" check that is your email and not your husbands.
Also check that the iPad does not have your husband as the owner Contact
via the "Mail, contacts, Calendar" tab in Settings
Scroll down to "Contacts"
Select "My Info" and make sure your details are selected, this may have some bearing on the sending user name in iMessage.
you are talking settings on the ipad? No it is not a shared ipad-he has another and doesn't use imessage.
sorry yes the Settings on your iPad.
We share the same e-mail address so the "receive at" doesn't help
another question, when you say Signed, do you mean the name of the sender is showing your husband rather then you on the device of the person you send a message to under their Messages?
I changed the contact info to my name. Hope this is it and thanks so much.
that may be it then, if you are sharing the email and is the email your husbands?
You can use any email with it, it does not send messages to your email, but lets you sync iMessages between multiple devices, so you will also find you will be receiving each other's iMessages over time.
As iMessages uses the email to let you sync iMessages between multiple devices, you will find you will be receiving each other's iMessages over time.
I would recommend using your own email address, it does not need to be used for anything other then iMessages, i.e. it does not need to be your iTunes Store email.
Alternatively turn off iMessages and just use regular SMS on one of the devices.
i tested with my daughter and still says dad's name.
it is because you are using his email, it uses that to find the name in your contacts.
Change the email to another (in Settings - Messages) and it should stop showing his name.
Set up just the email address for imessage. How
Do you have an email address of your own?
If Yes
then in Settings - Messages
"Receive At" select the > arrow and select "Add Another Email" and enter your email
then select the > next to your husands email and select "remove this email" on the page that shows.
This will then show only your email.
If you do not have your own email, you can register with a number of providers, I tend to recommend Gmail, visit Gmail.com and follow the instruction to register for an email address, then return to your iPad and follow the details I outlined above.
yes
did that work or was the Yes to you having an email address?
I set up my own gmail account and added it in the Imessages, but the delete the default gmail won't let me delete. Doesn't get black-stays gray.
