Where does iCal store its calendars?
If I want to back up an iCal calendar onto something like a USB flashdrive where would I find it? Since I am not using Lion, I do not have iCloud capability.

Calendar data for Mac OS X 10.6 is stored in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder.
Using the iCal UI is IMHO, better than relying on the file system to backup your iCal files. The best way to backup iCal data is described in: How to back up iCal calendar data.
