My Macbook Pro battery.

My Macbook Pro battery stays at 31 Degrees Celsius even when the house is at room temperature. The Macbook Pro is heating up evidently inside, but not from the exterior. Even many miliampere-hours have been reduced for the current battery health. 1 week.I'm not sure if this my fault, or a defect in battery. The battery life is just decreasing by 1 percent per charge, and I'm not confident that the battery will be sustained for a year of use. I'm scared, and I must exchange the Macbook Pro or take it into warranty.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), It has only been a week, and upset.

There are multiple battery sensors but my main battery temp stays at about 28ÂșC and has gotten up as high as 29ÂșC. I don't think it's a problem if you're having 31ÂșC temps. And my battery % stays between 99.7-102.4% lately. A single digit drop or increase in battery % is no big deal.

I you'd like to see everything there is to know about the sensors in your Mac, I recommend buying Hardware Monitor - it's not much and if you keep it running in the background, you can keep tabs on all temps, etc.

Good luck - and not to worry,

Clinton

The app that I have has a similar interface to the one that you have used, but your Mac is 14 months old, and it's reasonable for having a 5% drop. It has only been a week for me; I feel ashamed. I know it's not my fault, because I don't use extensive software applications. And I have a 5% drop from design capacity. Everyone had such a high expectation about a Mac, and this was my first. Everyone can't stop making fun of me, and it's not even my fault.

In my opinion you have perhaps two courses of action.

1. Go to an apple store and have them test your battery. They will ultimately decide if it is indeed defective and can offer your replacement solutions.

2. Stop watching your battery health daily/weekly and watch it for 3 months checking it once monthly and see how it is "deteriorating".

In my opinion, battery health is weight. One day you might weigh in and be a certain number later that same day you could be significantly heavier or lighter. In a way batteries can change significantly between a single charge there are too many variables. Watch it seldomly. To use another analogy "a watched pot never boils". Give it time, or have apple check it if you believe your concerns are worth the trip to the apple store.

I have the same problem with my 2012 MBP 13inch. I bought it on July 6, and the battery health is droping since the first time I used it (it start with 99% battery health). Now the battery health is about 93%, and it is keep going down. I also call Apple Support, and they told me that this is consider a battery defects. I will try to return it to the Autorized resell store tomorrow. If I can return it, I will take it to Apple Store for exchange or battery replacement.

My Macbook Pro battery.
