iPod touch will not charge/recognise charger

Hi,

My iPod touch 4th generation ran out of battery charge a while ago and so it will also not turn on. When I plug it into the charger (genuine Apple charger and cord) it will not charge and no pictures or lights come on to say it is recognizing the charger or charging. I have tried with both a wall charger, and using the USB cord and my MacBook/iTunes - neither way works. I have also tried different USB cords and it doesn't make a difference.

I am unable to 'reset' the iPod touch as there is not battery left on it. And I have blown into the charger port hole and the metal bits do not look bent.

What to do???

Try here:

iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store may be in order.
