Can iCloud be used on an old MacPro or MacBookPro, system 10.6.8?

Question

Can iCloud be used on an old MacPro or MacBookPro, system 10.6.8?

There is no iCloud in the system preferences of either machine. Can it be downloaded or added any other way? Or are these machines just defunct in regards to syncing?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), also Macbook Pro
