I see an icon showing it is plugged in and at 0%.  Another time it showed an "X" through the battery icon.  I updated the firmware with the battery updated 1.1 and still nothing.  The updater itself can't find the battery at all.

Maybe I bought a defective battery???

Thanks for helping!

    Hello,

Is this replacement battery band new? Does the power adapter end change from green to orange when plugged in?

I would rest the PMU first and see if that resolves the problem. To do that follow these instructions:

    Thank you for your advice.

The battery is brand new but is not an Apple battery so I may have bought a lemon on Amazon.

The charger does change to orange when plugged in.

The battery has charged while installed.

I reset the PMU following the directions on the webpage you suggested.

I still see the battery icon and a 0% indication.

Very odd,  as if your power adapter has gone orange it must be charging the battery.

I assume you have left it for a while on charge? if so have you also tried powering the PowerBook on the battery after it has been left on charge for a while?

But if it doesn't work then I would agree, it sounds like a dud battery and your be best to exchange it.

    Best of luck
