Is there a cups for scanner settings so I can manually change the ip address of a networked scanner?

Here are some facts: I have an ActionTec router from Verizon FiOS that will not support Bonjour bridged from the wireless network to the wired network. Until recently, I was able to scan wirelessly because the HP Printer Scanner (4500, wired network only) was setup prior to my upgrading to Lion. Recently, I had to reinstall the printer driver and re-add the printer in Lion. Without Bonjour support, I was only able to add the printer by connecting my MacBook Pro (2011) to a port on the router. Then, Bonjour allowed me to "add" the printer, and I had both the Print and Scan tabs.

I was able to edit the IP address for the printer manually using cups printers.conf. I can only assume that somewhere in the system, there is a simlar file that keeps track of the IP address for the scanner functionality. Anyone know where that is? My guess is if I can edit the IP address in the scanner settings I'll go back to having wireless scanning ability, too.

Thanks!

I'm not aware of an entry similar to the printers.conf that lists the scanner's connection. The scanner driver plugins are located in /Library/Image Capture/Devices and /Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources, depending on what scanning applications your device supports. Possibly under the Devices folder will be a HP package and within this could be the entry you are looking for?

Also, if you open System Information and select the Printers entry, you will see the Printer that you created when the Mac was hard wired to the router and it should also show the support for the scanner for this connection. With reference to my Canon MP990 that is wireless, it shows the network address using Bonjour and that scanning is supported, but there is not much else for the scanner entries - apart from a UUID that tells you very little. Also note that the URI only mentions the printer component, so I don't think that having this information will help.

URI: dnssd://Canon%20MP990%20Bonjour._printer._tcp.local./

PPD: Canon MP990 series

PPD File Version: 10.57.2.0

PostScript Version: (3010.000) 705

CUPS Version: 1.6svn (cups-327)

Scanning support: Yes

Scanning app (bundleID path): -

Scanning app version: -

Scanner UUID: FAB77E28-FAB7-7E28-FAB7-7E28FAB77E28

And one last thing to note - the scanner component is not visible in the CUPS web page. Only the printer component can be viewed and modified. So there is not going to be a similar file within CUPS you can modify.
