How do I copy my pc videos to my iphone

I wonder how to copy my pc videos into my iphone, I have tried everything, dropping, add folder to library, and nothing seems to work
iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1.1
Try selecting the video in iTunes and then clicking Advanced > Create iPod or iPhone Version. Then sync the video to the iPhone.
