After deleting a lot of information already backed up to an external HD, tried to write more data to MBP HD, and got the message "not enough space"
Then emptied recicle bin, but the information was still there, even when prompted to safe delete recicle bin...
My HD is 750 Gb and only have 150Gb left and not able to emty recicle bin. Help

Do you get an error message when you try to empty the Trash?
Do not get any errors, only get the following message when prompted to safely erase trash
"There are some locked items in the Trash. Do you want to remove all the items, including the locked ones, or just the unlocked items?"
clicked on remove all Items and followed with a small screen saying "items to delete 390"
Then nothing happens, trash bin continues showing "Trash: 319,172,203 bytes (319.7 MB on disk) for 206 items"
Any ideas on how to delete info from the trash bin.

Hold down the option key and empty the Trash.

Never mind, I just continued working, deleted somoe more files , then went back to enpty trash bin and it is working now. Somehow it does not like to delete some files until you delete some more.

uops, I think I chanted victory too soon....
It only emptied the filed I deleted last.
But then I tried your suggestion and it is deleting files as I type.
