device cannot be found during restore

My ipod has been frozen in shut down, I finally located it through itunes on my pc and was in the process of a restore (i understand everything will be wiped out, I've backed up). Now it is saying "Could not be restored the device cannot be found"

- Try a reset. Nothing is lost

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reboot the computer

- Try another cable

-Try another USB port.

- Try another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.
