how to designate current library

I recently opened iTunes with a previous library and then proceeded to add numerous files. Now I want to designate this modified previous library as my new "current" library. How can I do this?

Also, whenever iTunes now opens, the tab in my Task Bar shows "Previous iTunes Library." How do I change that, too?

iTunes novice here. Help, please.

  1. Close iTunes
  2. Open your iTunes folder
  3. Rename the iTunes Library file there as iTunes Library (Old).itl
  4. Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder
  5. Find the library file you've been using in there. If you're not sure which you chose it will be the one with the most recent Modified Date in Details view.
  6. Copy this file and paste it into the iTunes folder, then rename it as iTunes Library.itl
  7. Hold down shift as you start iTunes and open the library file ..\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl

The name given to the iTunes window is the name of the folder holding the active library file.

  1. Close iTunes
  2. Wait a few moments for it to fully shut down
  3. Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and continue to hold down the shift key
  4. Keep holding until asked to choose or create a library
  5. If the question doesn't pop up go back to step 1
  6. Click choose and browse to the iTunes Library.itl file in the main iTunes folder
