Hi, the shortcut Command-X does not seem to work any more in Finder (Lion). Any suggestions how to fix this?

Hi, the shortcut Command-X does not seem to work any more in Finder (Lion), e.g. when wanting to move a file from one folder to another.

I never had problems with using Command-X and Command-V before, but for a couple of weeks now this does not seem to work any more.

Is this due to an update/a bug? Any suggestions how this can be fixed?

Actually, command-X (ie, Cut) has never been supported for files by the Finder, due to the fact that it must either be dangerous or inconsistent with all other situations where cut, copy and paste are implemented. If you were able to do that, you must have had some third-party software providing that functionality, and that software either was removed, damaged or has become incompatible with the latest version of the OS.

Try this instead... In Lion, you can choose Edit -> Copy (command-C), then go to the destination, hold down the option key and choose Edit -> Move Item Here (or press command-option-V). This provides the same functionality, but in a manner that is more consistent with the normal behavior of cut, copy and paste.
