MacBook Pro Retina Trackpad issue - lower right corner click

Is anyone having an issue where the lower right corner of the trackpad doesn't always respond to click and sometimes movement? I started noticing that when I would press the trackpad down sometimes it would not respond. I then took the mouse pointer and put it on the spotlight search icon and started pressing the lowest righthand corner of the trackpad and it did not always register the click. I would say about 1 out of 5 clicks does not work. The pecentage of successful clicks goes up as you move inward from the corner.

The problem for me is for some reason when I use my MacBook I tend to click in that area often. Just wanted to see if anyone has experienced this and if they went to Apple about it.

thank you

I had the same exact issue after having my macbook pro retina less than a month. When I got it the trackpad worked great. Then the lower right hand side of the trackpad wouldnt respond to clicks. I took it to the genius bar and they said the trackpad was defective. They ordered a new top case and they went to install it. However, when I picked it up I was told that inside the trackpad just needed to be cleaned. The issue was resolved. However, yesterday I started having problems with the clicking on the left hand side. I have read other posts that say to push firmly on the upper corners of the trackpad. This helped a little bit, but was not a cure. It seems that the trackpad is too tight and the slightest bit of anything causes it to cease functioning. I do not eat at the computer and am the only user of the system. I am going to take my computer back to the store and have them take it apart and clean it. This seems ridiculous for a model at this price point. I should not have to have my machine disassembled once a month.

I know it seems beyond rediculous that you have to being do that once a month. I actually had a defecitve trackpad right how of the box when I got my first one so I had to send it back to apple so they could see what was wong. I guess there was a little tiny chip that was some how fried and they were able to send me a new one within the week. I think what you should "try" and do is see if you would be able to recieve a new MBP. Cause it sounds like yours just might be defective like mine.

The usual problem on these buttonless-whole-trackpad-is-a-big-button trackpads is that they need to pivot up and down a smidge to do the click. Means there is a minute gap between the trackpad and the rest of the aluminum chassis. Right where crumbs, grime particles and other contaminants can get stuck and impede the motion.

Examine the whole perimeter of the trackpad with a strong light and a magnifying glass. Good chance you'll discover the blockage. A can of compressed air and pushing the trackpad down while blowing gets the contaminant out most of the time.

And yes, I concur, this is lousy engineering design for such a critical part, just so it will look pretty.
