What I'd really like to do is to automate the backup of specific calendars.

This is a function whose absence remains a head scratcher for me.

Many other here seem to be requesting this.

In iCal, you only have options to publish a calendar publicly or share it with other specific account users.

I'd like the option to do both, or at least to automate the export of a calendar so that it can be picked up by other processes for additional custom use.

I can have a copy ftp'ed to my server if that's the only thing I'm doing. But if I'm privately sharing I can't. It's either / or, and it's extremely frustrating.
