How do I link to itms-books:// witin iBook Author

How do I link to itms-books:// witin iBook Author

I am trying to link directly back to the book by using itms-books:// versus http:// but iBook Author overrides that protocol with http://

Is there a way to do so?

iBook, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

It's not clear to me what you are trying to achieve. You want to link the book to itself? Presumably to the beginning? If so, set a bookmark on the first word of the main text flow in the book and link to that.

If you want to link to the book in the iTunes Store, you can use Link Maker.

I want someone from one book to go back to another book. The recent newsleter said this is the protocol to use:

Bookstore Links

You can now link to the iBookstore from within your books using “itms-books://” instead of “http://” at the beginning of the iBookstore URL. This new functionality will not close the iBooks app or present any additional dialogs.

But that doesn't seem to work.

I reported this as a bug to Apple when I tried the exact same thing - will let you know if there is any response...

It says the user can hit the store from your book...not jump inside another book.

but if you put "itms-books://" at the beginning of the link to your bookstore link instead of http:// as instructed in yesterday's email iBooks Author then pre-pends http:// anyway.

"Please know this feature is currently only available for books in .epub format."

You can use Link Maker to link to a book in the store.

As far as I understood the question was about linking form iBook author to another book in the store. That does not work linkmaker too. It creates a simple html url.

It seems there is no solution yet for iBook author.
