HP LaserJet 1000 cannot print on Mac Book Air with a mac os x 10.7.4

I started using mac os x 10.7.4 on a new mac book air 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 2GB 1333 MHz DDR3.

Yesterday I tried to connect on USB port and get somethings printed with HP LaserJet 1000 which started using HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 drivers on the system.

When I tried to print some text form both a pdf source and a word document, the printer utility started and then it said that printer paused. There was a message saying that: "unable to send data to printer".

I checked cabled etc but without any luck.

Could someone point out what I am doing wrong?

Your older model of Printer does NOT have compatible printer drivers for Lion offered by HP, according to the HP website:

"Products not supported

The following products are NOT supported in Mac OS X including the Lion operating system:

HP LaserJet 1000, 1005, 1006, and 1008 Printer series"

You are doing nothing wrong. Both Apple and HP have refused to make any sort of driver for that printer in Lion.

So you will need to buy another printer that is supported in Lion or another computer that does support that printer.
