What does error code -50 mean?

Hi People.

I am trying to copy files from my MacBook Pro to my iMac in target mode. I keep getting the error message "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)."

I have seen an earlier discussion sugesting using the cp - R in Terminal, but after following the instructions in that thread, and quitting Terminal, nothing seems to happen.

The files I am transferring are a mix of regualr jpegs and .cr2 files (Canon RAW files). Both discs are running the same software and same OS (Lion).

iMac (24-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Thanks for the reply Linc

I followed the instruction laid out in this article - http://support.apple.com/kb/TA20831

I thought I may habve not put the spaces in the right place, so went through it a coupkle of times.

I have actually worled around now by copying the files to my shared folder on the iMac, as the final destination was actually a WD My Book 2. However, once the files were on my iMac, I still couldn't copy over to my external HD... I think it may have been something to do with paths or permissions. So finally I restared all of my machines, and tried again - with success!
