Does the Ethernet cable need to be a cross-over or just standard?

I want to use to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from my old MacBook Pro to my MacBook Pro, without the availabilty of Thunberbolt to Firewire Adapter yet I am going to try via Ethernet cable, does this need to be a cross-over cable?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

No need for cross-over.

Do that when you first boot your new MBP in Setup Assistant, if you do it later you may wind up with an additional Home folder.
