does icloud sync photos like mobile me?

It does some things the same but many not the same. You will have to go to Apple.com and try to figure it out because we are all still learning what iCloud does and does not do with what devices. And my guess is that Apple is stilll changing the target.

iCloud is very different. It does not support galleries in the cloud.

But it supports the Photo Stream, that keeps 1000 of your most recently added pictures in the cloud, so you can easily import the new images to all your devices.

You can still sync your projects and albums to your mobile devices using iTunes.
