get another SIM from your cell carrier and try that. If that still doesn't help, get another SIM from your cell provider and try that.

Jul 22, 2012 9:15 AM in response to varjak pawby trazko,I had a liquid spill before getting this message of "no sim card".
When I removed the sim card, I could see a drop (actually less than one drop) of liquid on the sim card. I carefully blotted the card with one of my screen cleaning cloths, turned the iPad on its side and held the cloth at the entrance to the sim card space in case there was any liquid remaining inside that could also be blotted up. I reinserted the sim card and the message was gone. All is back to usual operations. If it had not been successful, I would have left the sim card out of the iPad for a couple of days to allow any liquid to evaporate.
