My App Store icon at the bottom of my desktop is showing I have 1 update available. When I go to the App Store the update is for an App that already has the most recent update (SmartReporter). How do I get rid of that annoying update (1) notice?

so let me get this stright, when you go to appstore-updates it is empty?
When I go to the App Store it says "Installed." But my App store Doc desktop icon is showing a red (1) that I need an update for this application (SmartReporter).
To install updates open the app store tap updates at the bottom of the screen on the right and then tap "update all" at the top right.
The number signifies that you need to update, just because an app is installed doesnt mean it is up to date.
I just re-read your post a little more closely, are you talking about the Mac AppStore? or iOS appstore?
The Mac App Store...... The App is installed with the latest update but still the icon is showing the need to update. When I go to the App Store, it shows "installed" and dimmed.
I had that issue awhile ago, I tried a bunch of things, eventually the update server and my computer got on the same page and it went away. I don't know what happened to make it go away.
Perhaps a more esteemed member of the community could chime in and assist you.

Something similar to this just happened to me and I restarted the computer and that worked. I don't know if it will work for your problem but its worth a try.
Quit app store. put the app in question in the trash. restart app store and the notification should be gone. go to the "purchased" tab and install the app again. Make sure it works, then empty the trash... :-)
Restart didn't work for me......
Tried trashing the program (SmartReporter)... still didn't get rid of the notification and the app store still indicated the item was installed. Must be something specific to SmartReporter. Used a backup to put the program back in my application folder.

I had the same problem. App store alerted me of the iMovie update. I updated shut down and restarted, the update was reflected in the last 30 days, and it also indicated that I needed to update iMovie, having the red indicator. I checked my applications and I had the iMovie 9.09, and the current iMovie version. I deleted Both the older version, and the newer version of iMovie, emptied the trash, closed all open programs, and then pressed the off button to shut down. Waited 30 seconds and pressed the on button, waited for everything to load then click the apple in the top left ,click on software update and the red indicator was GONE. Although I have never used the application, in my compulsive nature I just downloaded it again and no red indicators. I hope this helps my fellow Apple User having the same problem : )
