I have recorded a very small piece of sound and i want to edit it in garageband why won't it allow me to . Mp3 is on the list of files , see pic below . Thanks , all this to demonstrate my computer is a noisy piies of kit , always 'rattling' ...

Try this as it works for me.
Take your project, drag the MP# to your desktop, create a new basic track and drag the mp3 to the new basic track.
I'm sure there are more elegant ways to do this but this works.

Change the .MP3 extention to .mp3.
