not receiving email on macbook pro

I need some details to help:

1. What is the domain of your email? (Ex: @me.com, @gmail.com, etc)

2. Are you using the Mail application that came on the MacBook?

3. When did this start happening and was it working previously?

4. Have you recently changed the password to your email?

5. Also, if you are using the Mail app, do you have more than 1 account set up?

Are you using Mail or MS Outlook? If Mail, then under the Window menu select Connector Doctor and tell us if there are any red dots. If they are all green then you should be getting mail. The problem may also be your email service provider.

I know this is an old thread, but just in case someone is flailing around like I was -- nobody ever mentions this -- my issue with inbound mail was the Avast virus scanning software. Once I turned it off for email, the mail came in immediately. So if you've installed or updated your antivirus software recently, just one more thing to check.

for some reason i stopped getting new mail in only one mailbox.

i found avast in system preferences.

the second i turned-off the button on my avast eMail scanning...

i started getting mail in the inbox.
