Q: The Aperture "import" menu does not appear when I click the Import arrow

The Aperture "import" menu does not appear when I click the Import arrow. Clicking achieves no result at all. I can import by drag-dropping files/folders into the inspector menu but the Import button method appears to be non-operational. All advice will be greatly appreciated.

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

If you ever launched Aperture the file "com.apple.Aperture.plist" must exist.

 

Are you looking at the correct Library? In MacOS X Lion the User Library is hidden. You can reveal it and open it from the Finder's "Go" menu. Select the "Go" menu and hold down the "options" key, until the User Library appears in the drop-down menu. Then select the Library, and navigate to the "Preferences" folder; remove  "com.apple.Aperture.plist" to the Desktop and launch Aperture again.

 

If this does not help: Do you see the "Import" panel, when you launch Aperture from a different user account?

    Have you tried "File➞Import➞Files" or "{Command}+i"?  This will rule a problem with the Toolbar icon.

     

    The next step would be to delete your Aperture prefs file -- this generally helps resolve misbehaving UI issues.  Directions are on the Apple Trouble-shooting page.

    "File➞Import➞Files" does not work either. I have attempted to delete the Aperture preferences file by following the instructions on the Troubleshooting page but there is no file with the label referred to as  "com.apple.Aperture.plist" in the Preferences folder. I have also deleted Aperture and re-installed/updated it to no effect either.

    but it was Kirby's suggestion to look at the library in the first place! So the thanks are due to him
