What's the easiest and most cost-efficient way to have a website hosted, iweb or otherwise?
What's the easiest and most cost-efficient way to have a website hosted, iweb or otherwise?
I have been using IX Webhosting for several years with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across. The have plans that start at $3.95 a mo (USD) and their customer service is top notch.

Creating an iWeb site and uploading to your own hosting account is cheaper and better than using an online service.
There are two ways to publish your site...

Some pointers for choosing hosting...

You could host your site from your Mac but that means leaving it on all the time and extra demands on your internet connection.
Roddy, your site has been helpful. About hosting your site from your Mac, while I'm testing out the site as I design I'd love to have that option so other people can check things out. The only publishing options I saw were FTP, MobileMe, and Local Folder. When I published to the local folder I can't seem to access anything on another computer that doesn't host that folder. How do I host on my computer for other people to see until we're finished and ready to publish to a regular site? Bottom line, i don't want to pay monthly fees for an external hosting service while I'm just designing and developing on iWeb.
Open System Preferences/Internet & Wireless/Sharing and turn on "Web Sharing".
Your site will be availble at...

Here's how you do it :

To access the website from the outside, configure your router with Portforwarding to your computer.
