Reformating

My Mac needs reformatting, it become very slow! I have everything backed up!

I have the installer disc OSX 10.5.8 but my mac says it cant read the disks! What can I do now?

Hello,

Which Disks or Discs can't it read, the Hard Drive, or the Install Discs?

Insert installer DVD
Restart Mac holding C key
Proceed with install until you see a menu bar at the top
Select Disk Utilities from menu
Erase disk
Optionally partition to make 2 volumes - I always do this
Install new OS on one volume
Optionally don't import anything during install process to avoid reintroducing bugs
After install optionally put a bootable clone of your earlier OS on the other volume
