Firewire 400 to Thunderbolt?
I've got a Mackie Onyx 1220i mixer that has a Firewire 400 output and a MacBook Air with a Thunderbolt input. Am I SOL?

You are until Apple brings out the TB/800 adapter they are supposedly introducing at some stage. You may need one to go from 400 to 800 too.
I have a Firewire 800 to 400 cable already so as long as this adapter has a female FW 800 input to accept my male FW 800 cable ouput, I should be good.
The MOTU Ultralite Hybrid works via Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter, but only when powered from an adapater (ie. doesn't work via bus power). That shouldn't be an issue for your Onyx though. Audio and drives seem to be working fine for me if independently powered.
Hi,
I am having a similar issue-I have an external HD that uses FW400 which I would like to use with my macbook that uses Thunderbolt. I've been able to locate FW400 to FW800 adapters but they are all female to male- or male to male. In order to use the FW800 to Thunderbolt converter I need a female FW800 to Thunderbolt to finish the daisy chain...any suggestions? Or am I missing something. Help is appreciated.
