How do I add "space" before start of audio in a track in Arrange Logic Pro 9?

How do I add "space" before the start of audio in a track in Arrange Logic Pro 9?

An audio track I imported starts immediately when I push play.

How do I shift the whole track to the right to get more time before the audio starts to play?

Thank you for your time and patience.

W.W.

Well, if my suggestions did not solve your problem then you did not ask the right question. How could moving the region to the right in the arrangement NOT give you more time before the region starts to play? How could moving the song start earlier NOT add more time before the region starts to play? What IS your actual problem and what have you tried to do to solve it?

You asked "How do I shift the whole track to the right to get more time before the audio starts to play?" and you do that by grabbing the region with the mouse and moving it to the right. Are you telling me that you did that and it did not work?

Dear Data Stream Studio!

Although I appreciate anybody's time and effort to respond to my quest for help and normally I would say "Guilty", guess what, I am way beyond you!! Not only did I do what you are referring to but researched the matter over and over!! By the way none of the 2 suggestions you made helped or even solved my problem!

I am seeing more and more "discussion-experts" criticizing people on discussions like this because they don't read the manuals! To bad that this important source of help for people like me is going this way. By the amount of postings these days one can clearly see that todays manuals are made to sell instruction-videos!

This should be a place of courteous step by step help to people that can't find what they need in todays manuals. If manuals would be all one needs to learn and to succeed discussions would not exist!

Whatever happened to "just do it, help" (please)!

Grabing the upper left corner of the arrange window (where the measure numbers are? does not do anything) and move the song start position to the left.

Although "You grab the region with the mouse and move it to the right" does give you the extra time, space that I am looking for in Logic, after bouncing the problem is back.

(Try to look that up in the manual!)

Chorleyman..... Just for the record, I have started every song I've done over the entire time I've used Logic (since the c-lab creator days, literally thousands of tracks) at 0/4/4/1 so that I can have a cc#7 @ 90 message a 1/16th before the 1 to reset the song to full volume in case I have a fade out at the end. This has NEVER caused me problems. I'm quite sure that the issues attributed to this are actually caused by something else.

Thank you Data Stream Studio.

I did not know that I have to set locators in the bounce dialog box. Thanks to you I just learned that.

Thank you for teaching me what was missing. I also figuered out why I was not able to pull the "little square" to the left the way you told me to. Once again thank you for the lesson about start positions and bounce locators.

Of course if you already know what each item does and what effect it has on each other it is easy to look up in the manual how to change the settings. Thank you.

OK, I understand that bit - it was customary to have some space at the beginning for such things (often to transmit patch information via SysEx to external synths) in the good old days - I started out with an Atari/Cubase setup a long time ago as well. People have definitely reported problems with audio or MIDI data before the first bar, so it was just a thought.

Anyway, I hope this means you've solved your problem.
