Yes, I commented on that article, it's one of several that are VERY misleading. The Quadro is a CUDA card, which is great for PPro. For FCPX/Motion 5 you want to use an ATI Radeon HD 5870 along with at least 16GB RAM.

Thanks for chiming in on that article. It would be good to have a benchmark comparison with the two systems each with a preferred card.
I'm hoping to see some other comparisons on this thread. Also, some links to other articles about best practices and configurations.

I'm also using CS6 on the same system and has the Radeon 5870 on the 12-core Mac Pro. What's the recommended GPU for both CS6 & FCP X? So far 5870 is great for FCP X, but CS6 is not so great. Is this a on-going hardware war and I have to invest another $8K for a dedicated CS6 or Da Vinci system?
