Finder - Doesn't display dvd's

Hello, People of the Interweb! 😝

I've been trying to play a dvd on my mac for about 5 minutes now. But finder, nor anything else doesnt seem to recognize it. Which means it won't eject... I had a similar problem with a USB stick a few weeks ago. I eventually went onto some screen (which i can't remember) and found it was recognized but it wasn't on the sidebar of finder. If I wasn't clear enough, feel free to ask details as I really want to watch this DVD!!!

another thing I found is that you can use disk utility to eject a disk. And that sometimes a blank cd is bad and will not be visible... what else... oh yeah- the eject button should eject (top right-most button)

Back in system preferences, hardware cd/dvd- for the inserting a video DVD, I have open DVD PLAYER, so then the play controls show up
